You might be thinking to yourself, “Why do I need a group, can’t I do this on my own?” Short answer – showing up for your group is being accountable for your intention. It’s proof of your integrity.

A Group Keeps You in Check

Many people try to do quit on their own, with poor results. It’s just not possible. There’s too much hooking you, drawing you back to porn again and again.

Besides practical benefits, groups are where the magic of recovery actually happens. It’s not through willpower, strategies, or anything like that. Isolation is the root of porn addiction, and community is where it dies.

To put it another way, addiction is born in isolation, and dies in community.

You get back what you give

That’s going to be what makes the difference for you in the long run. Knowing how to turn to others for help. Knowing how to satisfy the emotional connection that you look for inside porn. Everything else is just a strategy. You might be able to not look at porn, but you’ll always be on the edge, living in the fear of relapse. 

Weekly Group Meetings

Community is what will root out the desire for porn altogether. It’s an essential part of this course to check in with your group weekly.
